I had this moment back in 2018 when I was beyond grieved about how schools were creating informational forms for elementary students to fill out asking them what gender they “identified” with. At this point, I had 3 kids and when I heard of this my heart was struck with fear. I remember standing in my kitchen holding on to the counter and saying, “God I’m scared, I don’t want my kids to ever be confused with how you made them, and God please don’t let anyone breed confusion into their lives.” I was scared and angry all at the same time and I remember very quickly the Lord spoke two things to my heart. He said:

     Where Sin abounds, Grace abounds all the more (Romans 5:20)! He said when the enemy tries his hand to destroy ALWAYS EXPECT that I am right there abounding ALL THE MORE with MY presence and grace. He said I AM GREATER in those moments than even the deepest darkest sin and actually where there is darkness MY LIGHT shines even brighter! He said “Gabby my presence and grace is going to abound towards your children. They will know ME even greater in this hour.” Breathe and Faith came to me. Fear left and a conquering spirit settled in! He spoke His word to me and I BELIEVED it!

     Second, He said, “I want you to pray that your kids would EXPERIENCE me at a young age and therefore never be able to be talked out of me.” He said “A lot of people know of me but have never experienced me. Once you have experienced me it’s hard to leave me or be talked out of me.” He said “Pray that I will encounter kids at a young age and I will”

He not only encouraged me with the first thought but He put a weapon in my mouth with this prayer! I have prayed this prayer EVERY DAY over my kids since!

He spoke this to me before all the crazy would unfold over the last 7 years. Every time I see things that try to terrify me for my kids I remember these two things and out loud speak them out. When I feel like outside forces are in control and are going to harm my child, I remember that GOD is in control and that Michael and I are the greatest authority in their life. I speak out loud to the enemies of this earth that try to defile who God has made our children to be and I say FLEE, I say GO, I say HANDS OFF in Jesus' name! I don’t back down or shrivel in a corner, or give the enemy one inch of my emotional real estate I STAND UP and remind him what God has said and I begin to declare God encounters to happen left and right in my children’s lives. I declare they experience HIM and never be able to be talked out of him, I declare that they will fulfill all God has marked out for them for their generation like David did! I declare they will use every gift, talent, and ability God has given them for the GLORY of God! They will love him deeply with a whole heart and a willing mind.

You know what happens as we do this? The enemy flees and no longer are we terrified by a weaker force than the Lord. Since Adam and Eve, the enemy has been trying to destroy generations. THIS isn’t a new tactic but we as Jesus' people have nothing to fear, actually, we should be invigorated and with joy and tenacity STAND UP and fight in place of prayer knowing that when sin is greatly present HIS GRACE is even GREATER! I pray these words would cause a faith and a fight to rise in you, and that you would catch courage, strength, and perspective to operate fiercely for the kingdom and your home in this hour.
