I think often on the fact that when we took all that time off almost 2 years ago that God could have said anything to us in that time. He could have given us a brand-new idea, or an invention or showed a better way to minister and pastor people more effectively. He could have said and dropped anything in our hearts we were so hungry and so open—But you want to know what He said…what He brought us back to…what he broke our hearts for…what he dropped inspiration for…our FAMILY. He brought us back to family. He broke our hearts in the best way possible for our home rhythm, for our kids, for each other. He called us out graciously on where we were so off and so missing the point. He said things like “You’ve delegated things that you’re not supposed to delegate” or posed questions to our hearts like “What if I told you the greatest seed I’ve placed in your hands is those four children, and how you plant them in the earth matters most to Me”. Like a light switch being turned on “our way” just didn’t fully seem right anymore.

Proverbs 14:12 “There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end, it leads to death.” I think it’s really easy to get to a place in life where we are living out “our way”. It’s so subtle…so sneaky and it can truly seem right. It’s not outright evil things we do or malicious things with ill intent, it's living life in a way that is ordered of us and not of God. Saying yes to all the things, choosing to build and start businesses and projects, mapping out all the extracurriculars for our kids and social events calendar for our lives ALL ABSENT of asking God “Hey what do you think? How would you have me do it? Lord, are you asking me to say yes to this?” Believe me I know we do this with good heart intentions, to build a better life and future for our families, to expose our kids to all the greatest things, to set them up for success right? One of the things The Holy Spirit impressed on our hearts so clearly was “What if I told you, you were the KEY to the unlocking of all the good in your kid’s life (with His spirit of course)? I made YOU the Key and want to guide you in unlocking the gifts and talents that I have placed on the inside of them. Your presence and guidance in their life is THE most important thing you could expose your kids to—don’t give that spot away to other people and things!” Again, I want to emphasize other people and things involved in your kids’ lives aren’t bad but when those things are getting more of your family’s time than you it is! They weren’t designed to be the key you were! 

There is a way that seems right to a man but in the end leads to death. My prayers and conversations with God have become “God I want your way, forgive me for not asking you what you thought…Where I’m off little or big show me because I want the Roberts to be on the path that leads to LIFE.” I want to encourage you to pray the same—invite God in to call you out and up so that our families are led in a pace and rhythm straight from heaven that yields a fruit straight from heaven.
