HEAR. PRAY. DO.

Week 3 - Do.

Joshua 1:9 NIV, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

We never want to be led by fear. Fear has a way of making our world small. There is so much that God has for you and your family to see and experience, and the cost of that is to face and overcome the fear that is holding you back. We believe that you can cultivate a rhythm of pushing past the fear that is holding you and your family back. You just have to occasionally do something that scares you. That could be asking your small group leader if you could lead the next devotional in your group, it could be having your kids try a new sport, or it could be going on a roller coaster ride. It honestly doesn’t really matter. Fear is fear and what you need to do is grow in your ability to push passed it.

As we close out our study on Joshua 1:9, here is our challenge for you. The next time you are having dinner together as a family, have each family member give one thing that they will do this month that they are scared to do. Write it down and help each other accomplish the goal. Encourage them as they step out, be there for them when they don’t want to not go through with it, pray with them, and then celebrate in a major way when they accomplish it! After the month, do it again the next month. Can you imagine what would happen to you and your family if each year you did twelve things that scared you? Where would you be at the end of that year? Oh, the type of children that you would raise!! Try ii out, you won’t regret it!
